The Golliwog's Cakewalk

Inspired by "Children's Corner Suite"

by Claude Debussy, written for his daughter

Chou-Chou.

Chou-Chou and her friend have a tea party for all of their toys and favourite nursery rhyme characters.

Standing atop a very special cake, they perform the cakewalk, a popular American "strutting dance" of the time.

The "walk" was often the subject for competion and was judged by a panel who then awarded a cake to the winners... hence the name "Cakewalk".
